About Us

Hi, I’m Vicki Zylstra

Founder & Owner of Steadfast Business Consulting

The story of my business starts with a clear realization: many organizations struggle to bridge the gap between aspirations and actions. I saw how businesses often set ambitious goals but were held back by misaligned internal cultures, unclear values, and conflicting priorities. These challenges inspired me to create a service that guides organizations toward clarity, unity, and purpose.

With over 25 years in corporate strategy, brand development, and marketing, I discovered the need for a thoughtful yet actionable approach—one that empowers businesses to remove roadblocks and achieve progress. I recognized the untapped potential in organizations waiting for guidance to align their mission, vision, and values with their goals.

My work is more than just consulting; it’s about transformation. I approach each organization with discernment and a deep belief that their foundational purpose should drive every decision. By uniting operations with aspirations, I help businesses foster alignment and create exceptional customer experiences while staying true to their core beliefs.

At its core, my business fulfills the need for a trusted advisor to navigate challenges and uncover a clear path forward. My dedication to helping companies grow with integrity and clarity drives my mission, leaving a meaningful impact on the organizations I serve. This isn’t just a career for me—it’s a passion for the profound value alignment and purpose bring to business.

The Meaning Behind “Steadfast”

When you look closely at a business’s name and trace it back to its origins, you’ll often find a personal story. Many names reflect something meaningful to the founder—perhaps their own name, a nod to the original product or service, or a word that holds deep personal significance.

For me, the name “Steadfast” is a tribute. It honors my dear friend and former colleague, Aimee VandenElzen, who passed away from an aggressive, fast-moving cancer. Aimee and I worked together for many years at DISHER, and her life motto—“steadfast in faith, forward in hope”—continues to guide me in my work and life. She was unwavering in the face of adversity, and her strength and spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Aimee was more than a colleague—she was my golf partner and a source of encouragement. Whenever we made a good shot, she’d cheer, “You are a golfer!” And when we didn’t, we gave each other “another try.” Still, Aimee often chose to play the shot she was given, embracing the moment with grace and resilience.

She lived with a deep sense of purpose and kindness. Aimee always assumed good intent in others. She stood firm in her beliefs, her faith, and her commitment to those around her. She was a fierce advocate for her family and a passionate supporter of women’s professional growth.

Aimee was a natural connector. She was even nominated for the West Michigan Women Brilliance Award in the “Connector” category. When I’d ask if she knew someone in the community, her answer was almost always, “Yes—do you want me to make a connection for you?” In her nomination, she wrote:

“I’ve always enjoyed people and building relationships. It’s just a part of who I am. I’m curious about people, and I have a simple belief that everyone has a story. We can learn from others by sharing our stories. Connecting people costs nothing. It’s a basic act of love for humankind.”

I miss Aimee deeply. But her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. I’m proud to carry her legacy forward—in my relationships, in my work, and in striving to give my best every day.
